This editor is accessed within the Production screen by clicking the "Digital Editor" button (shown below).

This area allows you to see the entire waveform, or a zoomed in portion of it.
The white bar indicates the current position of the playback transport (or cursor) in the waveform.
The yellow bar is the place where you clicked to being editing.  If you click play after selecting a location the cut will play from that position.
If you click and drag to make a selection it will look like the picture below.  Note the white squares allow you to drag to resize the current selection.
Information about the current position and the start, end, and length of the selection are found in the Position Information area.

You can click and drag the audio waveform in this area to set the playback position.

Edit Controls

 
4. Edit Controls
These controls are used for selecting all or part of the waveform to edit and the actual editing functions. 
Most of the functions here are mirrored in the "Edit" menu on the Application Menu Bar.
Before editing, you can click and drag in hte large waveform area to select a portion of the waveform. 
You can also click "Select All" to highlight the entire waveform.  "Clear Selection" will do just that.
 
Once you have a selection the following is possible:
CUT: Removes the selected audio, but keeps it in memory for pasting later.
COPY: Copies the selected audio into memory for pasting later.
PASTE: Pastes the copied or cut audio to the end of the existing waveform.
PASTE INSERT: Pastes the copied or cut audio to the current location, moving the audio to the right.
PASTE MIX: Pastes the copied or cut audio to the current location but does not move the audio and instead layers over the top of it.
DELETE SELECTION: Deletes the selected audio and does not store it in memory for pasting.
DELETE UNSELECTED: Deletes everything except the selected audio.
UNDO: Reverts the last action.

PLAY: Plays the waveform from the current location.
PLAY SELECTION: Plays the selected audio only from the beginning of the selection to its end.
PAUSE: Pauses playback
STOP: Stops Playback
Status: This is an indication of Playing, Pause, or Idle conditions.

Indicators
Status will be Idle when not playing, or it will show Playing or Paused and the position in the cut.

When playing these bars will show audio levels.  Beneath that you can see which device is carrying the output.

Spectrum Analyzer

This area shows a visualization of the spectra of the cut as it plays.
Amplitude is displayed vertically on the left and frequency horizontally on the top.

Position Information

9. Position Information
"Selection" shows the start, end and total duration of the current selection.
"Visible Range" shows the start, end and total duration of the waveform area. 
On the right, "Duration" shows the total length (HH:MM:SS.TTT) of the sound file.

"Fade In Selection" adjusts the volume of the selected area from 0 to normal over the length of the selection. 
"Fade Out Selection"  adjusts the volume of the selected area from normal to 0 over the length of the selection. 
"Change Volume" brings up a window allowing you to raise or lower the volume of the left, right, or both channels. 
200% would be twice as loud. 50% would be half as loud.
"Quick Normalize" applies a normalization algorithm across the entire waveform.
"Stretch or Shrink" allows you to change the playback rate which affects both the pitch and the duration.

If you have made any changes you wish to apply, click the "Save" button. 
The button will be greyed out like the picture above if there are no changes to save.
When you are finished, click the "Close Editor" button to close the editor. 
If you have made changes but have not saved them, this will discard the changes.

Waveform Vertical Zoom

12. Waveform Vertical Zoom
The "Wave Vertical Zoom" slider on the far right makes the waveform taller or shorter to make the peaks and valleys easier to see. 
It does NOT change the volume.
